The Northern Powerhouse is an ideal destination for property investment and is fast becoming a favourite for worldwide investors. This is predominately down to the sheer volume of investment happening in the north of England. With increased infrastructure links to improve connectivity between England’s key cities, Liverpool has gone from strength-to-strength and has recently been labelled as the UK’s property hotspot, thanks to a study from TotallyMoney.com.

In this article, Certa Invest has identified a number of key influences that are making Liverpool a strong location to invest in.

The Northern Powerhouse

According to the government’s dedicated Northern Powerhouse website, their key aim and objective with the north was defined as: “Building a Northern Powerhouse is about boosting the local economy by investing in skills, innovation, transport and culture, as well as devolving significant powers and budgets to directly elected mayors to ensure decisions in the North are made by the North.”

In the years to come, the government are dedicated to investing over GBP17 billion through a variety of schemes. With £70 million going to schools strategy, £3.4 billion on growth deals and £13 billion on transport infrastructure.

In addition to the £50 billion HS2 rail infrastructure system that’s planned to run from London to Birmingham, and then in two forks north, to Leeds and Manchester, a Northern Powerhouse Minister is very keen to develop the HS3 rail infrastructure system, stating this week that HS3 “will happen.” HS3 will provide faster direct links across the Pennines and the north of England, between the last two cities, Liverpool to Hull, reducing journey times across the north from east to west.

Liverpool’s economy has increased by 15% year-on-year growth already – the extended and continued investment over a longer period of time via the Northern Powerhouse initiative only serves to further strengthen Liverpool’s position as a great place to be investing.
